The Hawks played host for the 2024 Oneonta & Hartwick Classic, tipping off after Rochester defeated Oneonta 55-43 in the first game of the evening.
-
Hamilton opened the contest with a five point swing in their favor, Emma Cohen (Utica, N.Y.) got the Hawks on the board, working her way into the paint for the finish.
-
The Continentals were effective from beyond the arc, knocking down three threes in their first five buckets.
-
After a missed Hamilton three, Niamh Kelly (Latham, N.Y.) snagged the board and pushed the ball down the floor, connecting with Yadi Smith (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) who earned the squad's first trip to the free throw line.
-
Smith knocked down both free throws as the Hawks looked to find their stride and contain the Hamilton offense.
-
The Hawks fell behind as Hamilton's offense clicked but three pointers from Daniella DeBiase (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Macy Durkin (Syracuse,N.Y.) kept them within reach as the first quarter came to a close.
-
Both teams struggled to score with efficiency in the second quarter, shooting 4-16 from the field.
-
Hamilton was first to score in the second quarter but Durkin was quick to respond with a layup of her own. A Continental three soon after would be erased swiftly once again as Cohen connected from deep.

Hartwick was able to chip the deficit down to eleven but foul trouble swelled the deficit back to 14 at half.
-
Coach Lombard's squad posted 16 boards, six assists and got active on the defensive end, picking up a block and four steals in the first half of play.
-
The Hawks put up their best offensive quarter yet, posting 17 points but it was unfortunately matched by Hamilton's best quarter as well, with the help of seven offensive rebounds.
-
Cohen earned three trips to the line in the quarter as the team infiltrated the paint with success, finding buckets from Durkin, Smith, Kelly, and Trinity Thornton (Sherburne, N.Y.). Hartwick trailed entering the fourth but had solid mometum to build upon.

DeBiase connected on her third three of the night to open the fourth quarter, leading the Hawks with 12 points in the contest.
-
Yadi Smith made her presence felt all throughout the court, leading Hartwick with eight rebounds and leading the contest with four steals to pair with ten points.
