MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Hawks ended their 2024 season with a 31-14 road loss at SUNY Morrisville on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks received the opening kickoff and were quickly forced into a three-and-out by Morrisville's defense.
- The Mustangs quickly moved down the field on a four-play drive, punching one in with a 10-yard run.
- After a converted PAT, the Mustangs would lead the Hawks 7-0.
- Hartwick and Morrisville traded three-and-outs on their next possessions.
- However, with just under seven minutes remaining in the opening quarter, the Hawks found their stride offensively.
- The visitors took the ball from their own 34-yard line and drove deep into the Mustangs' territory.
- Unfortunately, their drive came up empty with the Hawks turning the ball over on downs on the Mustangs' four-yard line.
- Both offenses stalled at the end of the 1st quarter, but Morrisville quickly picked it back up in the 2nd quarter when the Hawks turned the ball over on downs on their own 20-yard line.
- The Mustangs capitalized on the short field, finding the endzone on just two plays to take a 14-0 lead after the point after attempt.
- Morrisville extended their lead, going 48-yards on 11 plays, capped off by a one-yard rushing TD.
- After the extra point attempt was successful, the Mustangs would lead the Hawks 21-0.
- The Hawks responded on their next possession with a seven-play 75-yard drive that ended with an 11-yard receiving touchdown from Braden Moreau (Ilion, N.Y.) to Connor Dempsey (Ilion, N.Y.) to make it a two-score game.
- Morrisville quickly turned it into a three-score game on their ensuing possession, converting a field goal to go up 24-7 heading into halftime.
- Out of the break, the Hawks locked down defensively allowing their offense to go to work starting at the 12:54 mark in the 3rd quarter.
- Moreau led his squad down the field, putting together a 91-yard drive that ended with him finding Nicholas Massaregli (Pelham, N.Y.) for the score.
- After the converted PAT, the Hawks only found themselves trailing the Mustangs by ten.
- Hartwick proceeded to force Morrisville to punt on their next possession, taking control of the ball at their own 38-yardline.
- Moreau led his offense into the redzone, but the Mustangs held strong on fourth and 22 at their own 16 to force the Hawks into another turn over on downs.
- Morrisville carried their final possession of the 3rd quarter into the 4th quarter, but threw it away in Hartwick territory as David Shafer Mooney (Cicero, N.Y.) picked off a Mustang pass to give his squad another chance to cut into the home team's lead.
- The Mustangs were able to shut down Hartwick's next drive, taking possession and turning it into a 31-14 lead.
- The Hawks still had a chance to get back into it as they took the ball with 8:11 remaining in the game.
- Hartwick once again found themselves in Mustang territory, but the home squad tightened up defensively to end the Hawks' threat.
- Morrisville would run out the clock from there, taking the 31-14 Empire 8 win.
- The Hawks produced 327 yards of total offense, all of which were through the air.
- Moreau racked up 319 passing yards including a 59-yarder to Conor Cosgrove (Warwick, N.Y.).
- Cosgrove led all receivers with 157 yards with Massaregli following with 72 and Haven Marascio (Cape Canaveral, Fla.) with 62 yards.
- Defensively, three seniors led the way with Jules Pierre (West Babylon, N.Y.) recording nine total tackles, and Randall Dennis (Miami, Fla.) and Joshua Titus (Greene, N.Y.) chipping in seven each.
