ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Men's Basketball team could not find the answer late in the game to overcome the visiting Fredonia State Blue Devils, falling 89-82.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 

• With both the Hawks and Blue Devils looking for their first wins on the young season, the two squads went toe-to-toe throughout the first 20 minutes of action.
• Hartwick and Fredonia exchanged leads eight times throughout the first half.
• However, it would be the Blue Devils who would pull away with five minutes remaining in the first half to take a 47-40 lead into halftime.
• The Blue Devils continued to add to their lead throughout the early minutes of the second half.
• Down 10 with 14:33 remaining, the Hawks chipped five points off of the Blue Devils lead over the next minute, pulling the score to 59-54 behind two clutch fast break layups by Joey Mclaurin (Mastic Beach, N.Y.).
• Fredonia State slowly worked things back into their favor, building an 11-point lead with 5:39 remaining with a big corner three from Malik Jemison.
• Hartwick cut into Fredonia's lead once again, getting within seven with just under four to play, but it was not enough as the Blue Devils pulled out the win 89-82.
• The Hawks had four players finish in double figures, with Mclaurin leading the attack with 17.
• Cosmo Hardinson (Larchmont, N.Y.) finished with 15, Brian Bonin (Cicero, N.Y.) and Henry Perkins (Albany, N.Y.) ended the game with 12 each, and Mike Gitz (Commack, N.Y.) collected 11 points.

 
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
 
The Hawks have a near two-week break before returning to the court.  The team will do so with a home contest on December 3 at 7 PM against Skidmore College.
