ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hartwick Men's Basketball ended their 2023-2024 season with a loss against Houghton University at home on Wednesday night.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks used a strong shooting performance from behind the arc to take a six-point lead over the Highlanders into halftime.
- Xymier Thomas (Binghamton, N.Y.) led the charge offensively, hitting two from distance and two more from the line for eight points.
- Houghton mounted a comeback in the second half, taking a two-point lead with 14:43 left to play.
- Hartwick hung around, not allowing the Highlanders to build too much of a lead down the stretch.
- Down two with 1:34 left to play, Henry Perkins (Albany, N.Y.) put one of two away from the line to get within one.
- A couple of stops and hustle plays later, the Hawks took found themselves with possession of the ball with 26.4 seconds left on the clock.
- Down by one, the Hawks worked the ball into the post where Perkins was fouled with 12.5 remaining.
- The first year forward missed both, but Thomas was able come in, snatch the rebound, and call a timeout keeping the possession alive for the Hawks.
- The post play combo of Perkins and Thomas worked their magic out of the timeout as Perkins hit Thomas down low for the layup to give Hartwick the 77-76 lead with 1.7 seconds left.
- Unfortunately, after a quick inbound and timeout for Houghton, the Highlanders drew up a play into the post and hit the buzzer-beater to claim the 78-77 win.
- Five Hawks once again produced a balanced attack with five players scoring in double figures.
- Perkins led the way with 14 points, while Thomas notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
- Daniel Oyediran (Madison, N.J.), Boateng, and Malachi Polson (Bay Shore, N.Y.) finished with 13, 12, and 10 respectively.
