PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Hawks battled throughout the course of the contest, but came up short in the end, falling to St. John Fisher 62-50 in the Empire 8 Semifinals

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks started off the scoring with a layup from Bree Fargnoli (Binghamton, N.Y.) just 13 seconds into the contest.
- St. John Fisher responded quickly, going on a 12-point run before the Hawks could get on the board again.
- Despite the deficit, Hartwick held the Cardinals at 12 points and clawed their way back into the contest, knotting up the score with 1:27 left in the 1st quarter.
- Fisher rallied back in the closing minute to take a 16-13 lead heading into the 2nd quarter.
- Hartwick turned things around quickly when Angelina Maselli (Burlington, Conn.) drilled a three-pointer to tie the score up once again.
- The Hawks held the lead throughout the remainder of the 2nd, taking a 28-24 by the end of the first twenty minutes of action.
- Both teams struggled to find their offensive rhythm out of the break with the first second-half score not coming until nearly four-minutes into the 3rd.
- Unfortunately for the Hawks, it was the Cardinals who got things rolling first, going on an 11-point run.
- Caitie Unger (Warwick, N.Y.) broke the run with a layup off of a dish from Yadi Smith (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).
- The Cardinals would go on to out-score the Hawks 17-7 in the quarter, but the Hawks stayed within striking distance finding themselves down by six by the end of the 3rd.
- Fisher came out strong once again in the 4th quarter, gradually building their lead over the Hawks.
- The Cardinals stayed the course throughout the remainder of the contest, defeating the Hawks 62-50.
- Fargnoli ended her night with 18 points and seven rebounds across 34 minutes to pace the Hawks.
