ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks used a six-goal 2
nd quarter and were able to withstand a late 4
th quarter push by the Lakers to claim an 11-10 season opening victory.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks fell behind early with the visiting Lakers scoring just 44 seconds into the contest.
- Hartwick responded just over five minutes later when Seth Bello (Holliston, Mass.) found the back of the net off of a pass from Steve Grossman (Magnolia, Del.).
- The Hawks were able to go up 3-1 behind a goal from Colin August (Garrison, N.Y.) and Spencer Hogaboom's (Poughkeepsie, N.Y) first collegiate tally.
- Unfortunately, Oswego roared back, scoring twice in the final two minutes of the quarter to knot the score up at 3-3.
- Thomas Cortelli (Pearl River, N.Y.) broke the deadlock at the 11:35 mark with his first collegiate goal. Garrett Frost (Wading River, N.Y.) assisted on the tally.
- The Hawks would go on to score five more times in the quarter, while holding the Lakers to just two goals to take a 9-5 lead into halftime.
- Out of the break, Oswego was able to hold Hartwick scoreless while picking up a goal of their own to chip away at the lead.
- The Lakers continued that momentum into the 4th quarter, scoring three unanswered goals to tie the contest up 9-9.
- However, Frost turned the momentum in the Hawks' favor, scoring the go-ahead-goal at the 5:33 mark and then gave his squad a much-needed cushion with 55 seconds remaining in the game.
- Oswego picked up one more goal with 15 seconds remaining, but the Hawks were able to weather the storm to claim the 11-10 win.
- Bello, Frost, August, Hogaboom, and Shayne Kerrigan (Foxborough, Mass.) collected two goals each for the Hawks. Bello also added two assists on the afternoon.
- First year goaltender, Chris Andersen (Schnecksville, Pa.) picked up his first collegiate win, recording 19 saves.

The Hawks will remain at home for their next contest as they square off with Farmingdale State College on Saturday, March 2 at 12 PM in Wright Stadium.
