ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks battled back several times, but the Gators came out on top down the stretch to take the 86-74 win over the Hawks in Empire 8 play on Tuesday night.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks stayed just one step behind the Gators throughout the much of the first half.
- At the 6:56 mark, Jeremiah Boateng (Springfield, Va.) set a screen and rolled to the basket for a wide-open dunk to tie the game at 21-21.
- Sage made a run shortly after that, but the Hawks hung around to stay within five at the break.
- Down 36-41, the Hawks jumped on the Gators early picking up two quick buckets to get within one.
- Hartwick continued to put pressure on Sage and their efforts eventually paid off at the 12:43 mark as Malachi Polson (Bay Shore, N.Y.) drilled a three from the corner to put the Hawks up 54-52.
- The Gators responded over the next nine minutes to regain the lead with 3:58 remaining.
- Sage would not relinquish that lead down the stretch, taking the 86-74 win.
- Despite the loss, the Hawks had big performances including a 21-point outing by Daniel Oyediran (Madison, N.Y.) and an 18-point outing by Shea Barber (Wells Bridge, N.Y.).
- Xymier Thomas (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Polson ended their nights with 11 points each.
