ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Women's Lacrosse team matched up against the Roos of SUNY Canton and came away with a win, powered by three hat tricks.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Hawks got the rainy afternoon started on a high note with Kara Anderson (Collingwood, Ont.) earning a free position attempt and finding the back of the net, 40 seconds in to open up the scoring.

Claudia Pollaro (Queensbury, N.Y.) weaved her way through traffic and put one past the keeper to extend the lead soon after the Anderson goal.

Elle Stringer (Rensselaer, N.Y.) kept the momentum going for the Hawks, scoring her first goal of the game with around 11 minutes left.

Stringer connected with Pollaro for another Hawk goal before Canton answered back with a goal of their own to make it 4-1.

Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.) picked up her first of three assists, spotting a cutting Stringer who was able to secure her second goal of the quarter.

The second quarter opened up with Canton's lone goal of the quarter as Hartwick began to find their stride and overwhelm the Roos defense.

Pollaro scored her second goal and Stringer was able to complete the first half hat trick, extending the lead to five.

Anderson caught fire and scored three straight goals over the final eight minutes,increasing their lead to eight going into half. Emily Madigan (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Pollaro were credited with assists during the scoring run.

The second half began and the opposition were able to string together two goals in the opening minutes to chip away at the deficit.

Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.) answered back with a goal of her own around the ten minute mark to get back in the scoring column.

Canton was able to score two more goals before the Hawks were able to get their opponents out of rhythm again and go on a scoring run.

Anderson knocked down her fifth goal of the game after being assisted by Mackenzie Dahl (Malta, N.Y.) and Vaccarelli followed soon after with her second goal of the game to go up seven.

Hanna Goodreau (North Reading, Mass.) found the back of the net after a feed from Marten and Madigan picked up two goals in the quarter to put the team up ten.

Gwen Cox (Washingtonville, N.Y.) took advantage of the man-up situation in the fourth quarter by rifling one past the keeper as the lead swelled to 11.

The opponents scored their final goal with around nine minutes left, the final goal of the game went to the Hawks as Stringer was able to set up Jammie Decker (Penn Yan, N.Y,) with a great feed and Decker put it away to secure the victory.

Anderson, Pollaro and Stringer each registered hat tricks with Anderson leading the way with five goals and Marten leading with three assists.
