ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Women's Lacrosse Team hosted the Russell Sage Gators in their first home Empire 8 conference game and picked up their first conference win this season.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Hartwick got off to a quick start as Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.) cut through the Gator defense and slipped one past the keeper, 22 seconds in.

Kara Anderson (Collingwood, Ont.) followed with her first goal of the game, a minute after the Marten goal.

A green card by the Hawks would not deter the Hartwick attack as Claudia Pollaro (Queensbury, N.Y.)drew a foul and converted on the free position attempt to go up three goals.

Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.) capped off the scoring run with her first goal at the ten minute mark.

Russell Sage would score two goals, one coming from a free position shot to draw within two.

The Hawks scored four consecutive goals again as Anderson started the run with a goal at the six minute mark.

Pollaro took advantage of a Gator green card by scoring a man-up goal, Vaccarelli won the ensuing draw control and marched down field to score her second goal of the game.

Emily Madigan (Syracuse, N.Y.) notched her first goal of the game, coming off an assist from Pollaro as the Hawks scored three goals in a minute.

The Gators opened up the second quarter with a goal, Pollaro received a pass from Marten and was able to find the back of the net to complete her hat trick.

Elle Stringer (Rensselaer, N.Y) picked up a ground ball and scorched one past the keeper to put the Hawks up 10-4.

Vaccarelli soon completed her hat trick, Anderson tacked on two more goals in the final three minutes, completing her hat trick and to go into the half leading by eight.

Stringer got the second half started quickly, scoring a goal in the first 40 seconds.

Vaccarelli scored another goal before Russell Sage answered back with their first goal of the half.

Hanna Goodreau (North Reading, Mass.) answered back with a goal of her own after receiving the dish from Marten.

Vaccarelli tacked on her fifth goal of the game, becoming just the second player in the Empire 8 Conference to reach 40 goals this season.

The Gators scored their sixth goal of the game with three minutes left in the quarter. Stringer responded with a goal after Marten was able to spot her in traffic, completing her hat trick.

With the fourth quarter underway, the Hawks controlled the pace and continued to swarm the Russell Sage defense.

After receiving a pass from Gwen Cox (Washingtonville, N.Y.), Kara Anderson carved through the Gator defense and ripped one past the keeper for her 100th career goal with ten minutes left in the fourth.

Russell Sage scored two more goals but would not be enough as the Hawks picked up their first conference win this season.

Anderson and Vaccarelli each had five goals, Stringer and Pollaro notched three goals as four Hawks earned hat tricks. Marten led with three assists.
