WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks and the Pioneers struggled to find the back of the net as both goalies came up with big saves across the first 15 minutes of action with each team scoring only one goal each.
  • The 2nd quarter was a different story for Hartwick as the home squad found the back of the net five times while holding Utica to just two goals.
  • Tyler Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) paced the offense for the Hawks, recording a hattrick in the first half of the contest, while assisting on another tally.
  • Hartwick picked up where they left off in the second, scoring three while stepping up even more on the defensive side, holding the Pioneers scoreless in the 3rd quarter.
  • Up 9-3 heading into the final quarter, the Hawks once again put the offensive pressure on Utica with Garrett Frost (Wading River, N.Y.) and Spencer Hogaboom (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) ripping goals from distance to spark the onslaught.
  • The Hawks wrapped up the second half on an eight to one run to collect the 14-4 victory.
  • Kaiden Johnson (Wakefield, Mass.) recorded his first collegiate win, denying 15 shots while only allowing the four goals.
