WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Hartwick jumped on the Cardinals early, scoring twice within the first two minutes of play.
  • Seth Bello (Holliston, Mass.) got things started, finding the back of the net off of a pass from Shayne Kerrigan (Foxborough, Mass.).
  • Kerrigan took that momentum and tallied his own goal just over a minute later.
  • Fisher quickly swung the momentum back into their favor, scoring three unanswered from the 10:28 mark in the 1st quarter to the 6:00 mark to take the one-goal lead.
  • The Hawks did not let the Cardinals' lead stand for long as Garrett Frost (Wading River, N.Y.) knotted the score up at 3-all with a man-up goal at the 4:42 mark.  Bello picked up the assist on the goal.
  • Hartwick briefly extended their lead with a goal from the stick of Tyler Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) early in the 2nd quarter.
  • However, St. John Fisher fired off two-in-a-row to tie the score at 5-5.
  • The Hawks halted the run, closing out the first half with two more tallies to take a 7-5 lead into halftime.
  • After two penalties late in the 2nd quarter, the Hawks were forced to kill off nearly 1:30 in penalties to open the 3rd.
  • While Hartwick killed the penalties, the Cardinals found the back of the net a few seconds later to cut the Hawks' lead to just one.
  • Fisher would go on to out-score the Hawks 7-2 in the 3rd to take a 12-9 lead heading into the final quarter of regulation.
  • Hartwick looked to get themselves back into it, but the Cardinals stifled any rally to win the Empire 8 contest 18-13.
  • Colin August (Garrison, N.Y.), Nocito, and Kerrigan each recorded three goals in the game.  Kerrigan also had a team-high two assists.
  • Bello and Frost rounded out Hartwick's scoring as both registered two tallies.
