Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Tennis Remains Unbeaten in E8 Play, Slay Saxons 9-0

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Hawks had to travel a little farther than expected on Saturday as weather moved their road match at Alfred indoors at St. Bonaventure University.  However, the extra distance was no cause for concern as Hartwick went on to take all nine matches.

  • Location:  St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
  • Records:  Hartwick (4-1 Overall, 3-0 Empire 8), Alfred (2-7 Overall, 1-2 Empire 8)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Lily Vanuga (Springville, N.Y.) and Samantha Lantzy (Valatie, N.Y.) set the tone early for the Hawks, picking up a dominant 8-1 win at 3rd doubles to start the match.
  • Alexandra Krasinska (Pine Island, N.Y.) and Phoebe Olson (Jamestown, N. Dak.) followed suit with an 8-5 win at 1st doubles.
  • However, it was a gutsy win at 2nd doubles by Ryann Ashby (Malta, N.Y.) and Gianna Leggieri (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) as the two edged out their opponents 8-7 by winning the tie breaker 7-3.
  • The Hawks breezed through the singles round with Vanuga and Lantzy picking up the match clinching wins at 3rd and 4th singles respectively.
