WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Hartwick prepared to open up 2025 against the Mustangs, taking the court for the first time since December 14th.

  • The two squads went scoreless for the first two minutes of the contest before Morrisville was able to get on the board with a driving layup.

  • After an empty possession, Malachi Polson (Bay Shore, N.Y.)Ā  corralled the defensive rebound and pushed it down the court, tying the game with the coast to coast score.

  • Polson knotted the game up at seven, responding with a three of his own in the first five minutes of action.

  • Brian Bonin (Cicero, N.Y.) pushed the Hawks in front, driving into the paint for a hard earned bucket.

  • Vinny Payne (Lansing, IL) made the most out of his Hawks debut, immediately connecting from downtown on his first possession after subbing in to put Coach Cooper's squad up five.

  • The slim lead would be erased as the Mustangs would catch fire, going on a 14 point run powered by three consecutive three pointers.

  • Joey Mclaurin (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) made an instant impact off the bench, hitting a floater and two pull up jumpers from beyond the arc to chip away at the Mustang lead.

  • Mike Gitz (Commack, N.Y.) drained a three pointer after Mclaurin with a little over seven minutes left in the half to cut the deficit to ten.

  • Joe Bangel (Candor, N.Y.), Xymier Thomas (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Polson converted on their field goal attempts in the final three minutes as the Hawks entered the half trailing 44-29.

  • The second half would remain in favor of Morrisville as the Mustangs continued to build on their lead while holding the Hawks off.

  • Hartwick continued to battle on every possession, John Bangel (Candor, N.Y.) was effective in his time on the court, scoring eight points on 75% shooting.

  • Thomas was a force to be reckoned with in the second half, connecting for nine points by imposing his will in the paint. Xymier finished his afternoon with 11 points and three rebounds while going 4-6 from the field.

  • Mclaurin led the scoring on the night with 12, Polson also piled up 11 points. Bonin led the rebounding with six, Polson followed closely with five.
