BY THE NUMBERS

  • Devin Chandler continues to impress in his first collegiate season on the pitch, collecting his first collegiate brace.

  • After three consecutive losses to open the all-time series in 2018, the Hawks have now won three straight to even the series.

  • Hunter Bulich and Nick Nowak both collected their first assists this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks came soaring out the gate as the Highlanders sent the opening kickoff out of play. Off the throw-in, the Hawks wasted no time attacking, as Hunter Bulich (Catskill, N.Y.) delivered a perfect entry pass that found Andres Ordonez Acosta (Estado de Mexico, Mexico), who used his speed to beat the defender and slip it past the oncoming keeper for the opening-minute strike.

Hartwick kept the pressure high and earned their first corner moments later. Devin Chandler (Wylie, Tex.) sent in a dangerous ball that found the back of the net after a mishandled save by the Houghton keeper, doubling the lead in the second minute. With a two-goal cushion, the Hawks stayed aggressive, continuing to generate chances throughout the half. The Highlanders pulled one back in the 33rd minute, but Chandler responded in style, bending in a stunning free kick for his second goal of the afternoon to make it 3–1 at the break.

'Wick didn't take their foot off the gas in the second half, controlling possession and limiting the Highlanders' opportunities. Kayden Zachgo (Warwick, N.Y.) notched his first goal of the season in the 78th minute to extend the lead, and Wilson Mount (Atlanta, Ga.) capped off the scoring with a strike in the 85th minute off an assist from Nick Nowak (Shoreham, N.Y.).

The Hawks' dominant 5–1 win over Houghton marks a statement performance as they look to keep their momentum rolling with four matches left in the regular season.
