HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a fierce match up on NLPA Field in Rochester, New York, as the Hawks looked to secure another conference win on the road. However, Nazareth would utilize the first two minutes to their advantage as they dominated possession and took three shots, while Reynolds would shut them down to tally two saves in almost two minutes. The Hawks would answer back with an incredible offensive push, taking 13 shots off of 8 penalty corners in the first quarter alone.Â
Despite Nazareth earning their first two penalty corners of the game in the second, it was Kinkel and Angioletti combining for the first goal of the contest off a Hawks penalty corner. Only nine minutes later, Klotz would be granted a penalty stroke opportunity and bring the Hawks' lead up to 2-0.
The Hawks, still on the climb, snagged another penalty corner opportunity, where Angioletti was able to capitalize on a rebound from the Golden Flyers goalie and bury a third goal for the Royal Blue and White. Their offensive crusade continued with eight more shots on the Nazareth goal from five corners, until the 43rd minute, where Klotz would tip in a stellar pass from Angioletti and secure a dominant lead going into the fourth and final quarter.
Nazareth attempted a comeback in the fourth, with seven of their fifteen shots occurring in the final fifteen minutes of play, though Reynolds was a brick wall, collecting half of her save total from the fourth quarter alone. Despite the late rally from the Golden Flyers, they were no match for the Hawks' attacking force, and Hartwick pulled away with a big shutout conference win.
