Olivia Farnham shined in her first collegiate start, posting career-best totals of 16 points and 15 rebounds to secure her first double-double.
-
Hartwick controlled the paint all afternoon, piling up 23 second-chance points, 50 points in the paint, and a commanding 65–19 rebounding advantage over Delhi.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hartwick wasted no time asserting itself offensively, turning in its best scoring quarter of the game with 21 points in the opening frame. The Hawks imposed their will inside early and often, as Jess Bowens (Mechanicville, N.Y.) and Trinity Thornton (Sherburne, N.Y.) led a steady barrage of interior baskets.
The Blue and White also received key contributions off the bench, with Niamh Kelly (Latham, N.Y.), Emma Cohen (Utica, N.Y.), and Natalie Vredenburgh (Delhi, N.Y.) adding buckets to maintain the pressure. Hartwick carried a 10-point advantage into the second quarter, where Cohen knocked down her first triple of the game to stretch the defense.
Coach Lombard's defensive schemes continued to stifle the Broncos, and Brianna Barton (Cavendish, VT) capped off the half by drilling a three-pointer to force a Delhi timeout and send the Hawks into the break with momentum firmly in hand.
The second half followed a similar script, with Hartwick dominating the glass and making every Delhi basket difficult. The Broncos showed increased resistance in the third quarter, matching Hartwick's scoring output, but Bowens elevated her play with eight points and six rebounds in the frame to keep the Hawks in control.
A constant presence on the boards all afternoon, Olivia Farnham (Millerton, N.Y.) erupted in the fourth quarter, scoring eight points to slam the door on any comeback attempt. The Hawk defense put an exclamation point on the performance, swarming Delhi throughout the final ten minutes and limiting the Broncos to just two points down the stretch.
