ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick women's volleyball team placed three Hawks on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, recognizing their excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and appear in at least 90% of their team's sets or start in 66% of them.
Shelby Swartz (Candor, N.Y.) capped off a stellar senior season, earning her first Empire 8 First Team All-Conference honor. A lethal presence on the outside, Swartz led the Hawks with a staggering 379 kills, the third-most in a single season in program history. She collected two Empire 8 Player of the Week accolades and was named to the Empire 8 All-Tournament Team. Swartz reached the 1,000 career-point milestone in the quarterfinal win over Utica and saved her best for last, posting a career-high 21 kills to propel Hartwick to its first-ever ECAC Championship title, earning Tournament MVP honors.
Lucille Walker (Ithaca, N.Y.) delivered a strong sophomore campaign, securing her first Empire 8 Second Team All-Conference selection. A consistent force in the middle, Walker ranked second on the team with 304 kills while also contributing defensively, totaling 71 blocks to tie for second on the squad. She turned in a career performance in the Empire 8 Semifinals, registering a career-high 16 kills to help the Hawks complete a reverse sweep of SUNY Brockport and advance to their second Empire 8 Championship appearance.
Isabella Gracias (Oneonta, N.Y.) put together another rock-solid season from the right side, earning Empire 8 Third Team All-Conference honors. A constant offensive and defensive threat, Gracias posted a career-high 302 kills while leading the team with 82 blocks. She consistently rose to the occasion in clutch moments, highlighted by a season-high five blocks in the Empire 8 Semifinals against the Golden Eagles.
