WEBSTER, N.Y. - The Hartwick Men's Swim and Dive team collected a second place finish in the 2024-25 Empire 8 Swim and Dive Championships, posting a strong team effort.

Cameron Drake (El Cajon, Cal.) opened the fourth and final day of the Empire 8 Championship with a dominant performance in the 1650 freestyle, taking the gold medal by 33 seconds.

Owen James (St. Lutz, Fla.) kept the Hawks rolling with some points, placing fifth in the 200 yard backstroke, timing in at one minute and fifty nine seconds.

The Hawks kept up their strong pace as Hassan Abdelwahed (New Hartford, N.Y.) added to the point total in the 200 breaststroke

Hartwick capped off their championship run with the 400 yard freestyle relay, taking the silver medal. Evan Nezat (Jacksonville, N.C.), Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.), Abdelwahed and Drake combined for a time of three minutes and nine seconds.

The Men scored 635 points to place second in the championship, Alfred took third with 605 points, and new Empire 8 member SUNY Geneseo placed first.

Sebastian Knowles (Plano, TX) was named the 2024-25 Empire 8 Men's Swim and Dive Championship Torchbearer Award recipient, awarded to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average.
