WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks geared up for their first road contest of their Empire 8 slate, matching up with new conference member, SUNY Brockport in their inaugural Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse season.

  • Liam Downey (Blue Point, N.Y.) got the Hawks started on the right foot, winning the opening face-off and getting the offense situated and looking to strike early.

  • Taharihwakohe Lazore (Hogansburg, N.Y.) continues to facilitate the Hawk attack at a high rate, adding onto his team lead in assists, finding Colin August (Garrison, N.Y.) 40 seconds in as the Royal Blue and White got on the scoreboard.

  • Brockport found their first goal of the contest, scoring off the counter attack at the seven minute mark.

  • Following a barrage of shots from the Hawks, Liam McManus (Skillman, N.J.) found the back of the net with three minutes remaining in the first to close out the scoring in the quarter, leading 2-1.

  • The Golden Eagles opened the second with a quick strike of their own but a slashing penalty put them in trouble, allowing Garrett Frost (Wading River, N.Y.) to capitalize on the man-up situation, scoring off the feed from Spencer Hogaboom (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).

  • Just nine seconds later, Liam Downey found the back of the net for the swift score as August was credited with the assist.

  • Brockport stayed close, closing the gap to one score again as the Golden Eagles scored with nine minutes and 20 seconds remaining.

  • Christian Szokoli (Greenlawn, N.Y.) took advantage of defensive collapse from Brockport, sending a lob pass to an awaiting August in front of the crease who was able to put it away through contact.

  • The Hawks picked up another score within the minute as Frost was able to draw multiple defenders to him before hitting a behind the back bounce pass to Tyler Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.), as he buried a missile to the top right corner of the goal.

  • August secured yet another hat-trick in a stellar junior campaign, connecting on back to back goals after Wick won the face off, Downey and Mason Adams (Delmar, N.Y.) secured assists with the team heading into the half 8-4.

  • Hartwick continued the trend of opening the quarter with a quick goal as Nocito dished it off to Matthew LoCasto (Floral Park, N.Y.) for the score.

  • Hogaboom picked up his first goal of the game in the third quarter as well, finding the back of the net to put the Hawks up six.

  • LoCasto connected with August who put away his fifth goal and the final goal for the Hawks with nine minutes remaining in the third.

  • Brockport outshot Hartwick 14-7 in the third but had no goals to show for it as they struggled to get past Kaiden Johnson (Wakefield, Mass.) in goal as Johnson was able to pick up double digit saves in back to back conference contests.

  • The Hawks were held at bay in the fourth quarter, unable to score as Brockport began to piece their attack together. The Golden Eagles were able to put up five but Hartwick was able to hold them off, securing their first conference victory of the season.
