The Hawks geared up for the opening draw control as the rain came pouring down, certain to have an impact on the flow of the contest as Kara Anderson (Collingwood, Ont.) snagged the first draw of their 2025 season.

Brooke Lynett (Acton, Mass.) snagged her first save of the afternoon and kickstarted the offense, initiating the successful clear as 'Wick began to push their way down field.

The Royal Blue and White generated a shot on goal but were denied, Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.) picked up the loose ball and spotted a cutting Anderson for the first score of the contest at the 12 minute mark.

Cortland got themselves on the scoreboard, knocking down their first goal with ten minutes remaining to even the score.

Hartwick got their second goal of the game on a very familiar sequence to the Royal Blue and White as Marten dished it to Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.), Vaccarelli ripped it past the Red Dragon in goal with seven minutes left.

First Year Parker Laurin (Wilton, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate goal coming off the feed from Ashley Ament (Sayreville, N.J.) with five minutes on the clock.

The final three minutes of the first quarter were action-packed as Cortland connected for a goal before Vacarelli took advantage of the man-up situation, scoring her second goal of the game. The Red Dragons ended the first quarter with a goal to cut the Hawk lead to one.

Vaccarelli kept rolling, capturing the hat-trick with a rocket past the goalkeeper after slicing through the defense to open the second quarter.

Cortland pieced it together and caught fire over the next ten minutes, connecting for ten straight goals to close out the second quarter.

The Red Dragons tacked on two more scores to start the third quarter before Anderson snapped the scoring run with a goal, Vaccarelli was credited with the assist at the eleven minute mark.

Hartwick struggled to contain the Red Dragon attack as Cortland struck for three more before Anderson snapped the streak again, posting her first hat-trick of the early season.

The fourth quarter went quietly as the Red Dragons protected their lead, scoring once in the quarter at the 12 minute mark.

Anderson registered her fourth goal and Ament picked up her first goal of the night in the final five minutes with Marten picking up both assists.

Lynett was able to capture her 100th career save in between the pipes, completing the impressive feat in just 16 games.
