WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
-
The Hawks continued their weekend road trip, set to face off against Empire 8 powerhouse Alfred after splitting their conference series on Saturday.
-
Emily Holladay (Hancocks Bridge, N.J.) led off Game One by displaying her plate discipline, registering the leadoff walk.
-
Samantha Moore (Mamaroneck, NY) picked up a base knock to right field with two outs but the Hawks would strand two on base.
-
Alfred scored the first run of the game, taking advantage of the leadoff hit by pitch and moving the runner into scoring position off an error. The Saxons were able to send both runners in motion to score their first run on the throw down to second.
-
The Saxons broke open the contest in the bottom half of the third, stringing together four runs on five hits, starting with a lead-off double to give them some breathing room.
-
Hartwick was unable to figure out the tough Saxon starter, recording just one hit by Moore before Alfred was able to put the game out of reach, tacking on two runs in the fourth and the fifth to take game one.
GAME TWO
-
Holladay led off game two by laying down the bunt single, and advancing all the way to third on the throwing error from the Saxon catcher. Unfortunately, Holladay would be left stranded on third to conclude the top half.
-
The Saxons knocked in two runs on two hits to take an early two run lead after one inning.
-
Alfred kept their offense rolling, striking for five runs on four hits, taking a 7-0 lead over the Hawks.
-
Hartwick showed late life as Autumn Millington (Westmoreland, NY) opened up the top half of the fifth with a leadoff single to center field.
-
Anna Klein (Souderton, PA)Â reached base on an error and moved into scoring position on the passed ball.
-
Emily Holladay roped a singled down the left field line, bringing Millington home for their lone run of the day, as the Hawks recorded their final two outs before pushing another run across to continue play.
