WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Not only did the Hawks use these games to celebrate The Hidden Opponent, a non-profit focused on breaking the stigma around athletes' mental health, but they also honored their lone senior, outfielder Jessica Betts (South Glens Falls, NY) , in between games. In the outfield, Betts has posted a career 12 putouts and 2 assists for an impressive .824 fielding percentage.

  • The Wildcats struck first in Game 1, scoring twice within the first inning.

  • Sierra Phillips (Salem, NY) would make it to first base on a walk and successfully steal second, giving the Hawks a bit of momentum.

  • Phillips would make it to third on a ground out by Emily Holladay (Hancocks Bridge, N.J.), but the Hawks could not capitalize on a scoring opportunity.

  • SUNY Poly would tally two more in the third, one off a homer.

  • Despite a single from Phillips, 'Wick would remain scoreless.

  • Poly only continued to gain momentum, out-hitting the Hawks 16-1.

GAME TWO

  • The Wildcats were hot going into the second game, snagging four runs in the first inning.

  • Ashlee Stevens (Knox, NY) would manage a single in the second, though she would be left on base.

  • Poly continued their onslaught, tallying up ten runs by the fifth inning.

  • The only other hit that the Hawks could manage would come from Casey O'Connor (Albany, NY) with a base knock down the right field line in the bottom half of the fifth.

  • The game ended in five innings with a score of 10-0 in favor of the Wildcats.
