Despite Hartwick's Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.) winning the first draw control, a Hawks turnover and a successful Russell Sage clear led to the Gators scoring first in the contest.
-
However, a draw control by Brianna Liebro (Castleton, N.Y.) allowed Vaccarelli to gain possession and answer back with a goal of her own less than 30 seconds later.
-
Kara Anderson (Collingwood, Ont.) was quick to add her own goal off the draw, with an assist to Katrina Marten (Middlesex, N.Y.).
-
Russell Sage called their first time out in hopes of stifling the Hawks offense, but it proved unsuccessful as Parker Laurin (Wilton, N.Y.)Â put another goal on the board, the assist once again going to Marten.
-
Marten would snag another assist off a second Vaccarelli goal, but the Gators would fire back 25 seconds later to try and turn the tides in their favor.
-
Hartwick would be given a green card, with Russell Sage getting one only a minute later. Despite the man-up opportunity for the Hawks, a turnover would lead to the Gators pushing the offensive and sending a shot past Brooke Lynett (Acton, Mass.) for the man-down goal.
-
Another Hartwick green card left the Hawks man-down going into the second period, but this proved no problem for Laurin, who snagged her second goal of the day with a beautiful assist from Marten.
-
A ground ball by Grace Ollendike (Glen Rock, N.J.) and a Russell Sage foul would then lead to a successful Hartwick clear and a Katrina Marten unassisted goal.
-
Maura Donoghue (Paramus, N.J.) would continue the Hawks' blazing offense, winning her third goal of the season after a free position attempt by Anderson, who would snag the assist.
-
Ashley Ament would also earn her second goal of the season, unassisted, forcing the Gators to spend another time out in hopes of recollecting themselves.
-
A shot clock violation on the Gators would lead to a turnover, which opened the door for Marten to send a pass to Anderson in front of the goal, earning the pair an assist and a goal, respectively.
-
A green card caused the Gators to stumble even further, with Vaccarelli snagging the hat trick off the man-up opportunity only 13 seconds after the card was issued.
-
Lynett would post a shutout second period with the Gators able to get nothing else on the board.
-
The Hawks would put Alexa Patrakis (Wilbraham, Mass.) in goal for the second half of the contest, while the Gators would make no goalie change.
-
The second half would see play slow down significantly, though the Gators would struggle on the defense, gathering two more green cards and one yellow card.
-
Marten would be awarded a free position attempt, and though her shot was a bit too high, 'Wick would keep possession. This opened the door for a man-up goal by Anderson to end the period, with Lily Dempsey (Schenectady, N.Y.) being awarded her first career assist.
-
Russell Sage would still remain scoreless going into the final quarter.
-
The final period of play would open with both teams taking turns turning the ball over until Jammie Decker (Penn Yan, N.Y.) could find the back of the net, grabbing her sixth career goal and third of the season.
-
For the first time since the first period, the Gators would respond with a goal of their own, off the rebound from Patrakis.
-
Dempsey would continue building her stats in the second half, snagging her first career goal off the free position only a minute later.
-
Hawks would cement their win with a final goal by Lauryn Bigwarfe (Potsdam, N.Y.).
-
Kristen Vaccarelli and Brianna Liebro were pests for the Gators on the defensive and in the transition, for a combined 14 caused turnovers. Prior to this game, Liebro was ranked second in all of Division III for caused turnovers per game.
-
Vaccarelli continues to add accomplishment after accomplishment onto her decorated career, setting the single game record for caused turnovers with eight in total.
-
Brooke Lynett would compile 6 saves in the first half, with Alexa Patrakis tallying 3 in the second.
-
The Hawks would boast 9 different goal-scorers this game with Anderson and Vaccarelli both posting hat tricks.
