ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hartwick College Athletics is partnering with the Oneonta Boys & Girls Club and Saturday's Bread to give back to the local community during two upcoming home events. The Hawks will host Utica University in football on Saturday, November 7, at 1 p.m., then welcome SUNY Oneonta for a basketball doubleheader on Tuesday, November 10, starting with the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
Fans attending either event will have the opportunity to support the community through non-perishable food donations or traditional admission. All basketball game admission proceeds, along with funds raised through 50/50 raffles held at each event, will benefit the Oneonta Boys & Girls Club.
Fans can gain admission to both events by bringing non-perishable food items to donate to Saturday's Bread or by paying the regular admission fee. Admission prices for both events are as follows:
- Adults (Ages 18-64): $5
- Students (Ages 5-17) & Senior Citizens (Ages 65+): $3
- Children Under 5 & Hartwick Students with Valid Student ID: FREE
In addition to the food drive, fans will have the opportunity to participate in 50/50 raffles during both the football game against Utica on November 7 and the basketball doubleheader against Oneonta on November 10. Raffle proceeds will go directly to the Oneonta Boys & Girls Club.
"We are proud and excited to support two local entities in the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club and Saturday's Bread who make a tremendous impact in our community," said
Paul Vecchio, Executive Director of Athletics. "We expect to have great crowds for both events and to both raise a lot of money as well as critical food supplies for those who will struggle this Holiday season. I'm thankful to all who come out and support as well as to our staff and student-athletes who will volunteer their time to make these events a success."
During the basketball doubleheader on Tuesday, Nov. 10, separate 50/50 drawings will take place during each game. The women's basketball drawing will be held following the third quarter, while the men's basketball drawing will take place at halftime.
The women's basketball team will tip off against Oneonta at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
Hartwick Athletics encourages all fans, students, alumni, and community members to come out, support the Hawks, and help make a difference in the Oneonta community. Whether through an admission donation, participation in the 50/50 raffles, or a contribution of non-perishable food items, every contribution will help support these important local organizations.
