2025-26 Statistics
ONEONTA, N.Y. – In her sixth season as head coach,
Sarah Lombard has expectations of growth for a young team with a lot of new pieces, with some important players returning, as they begin their 2026-27 season Friday night at Emerson College.
"My expectations are that we grow immensely individually and collectively. We are a young team with a lot of new pieces," said Lombard.
The Hawks return their top scorer and rebounder from a year ago in senior guard
Macy Durkin (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt). Last year, she led the team with 11.7 points per game (PPG) and also was tops on the team with 10.3 rebounds per game (RPG) as just one of two players in the entire conference that averaged a double-double. She will be counted on to lead the team this year as well as sophomore forward
Jess Bowens (Malta, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and junior guard
Meghan Paul (Waterford, N.Y./Catholic Central) who the coaching staff expects to take a leap forward and have bigger roles this season.
Lombard highlighted the team's youth and willingness to embrace whatever roles are needed as key strengths heading into the season. The Hawks have focused on improving their conditioning and developing individual basketball IQ throughout the offseason and preseason. Off the court, the team has built a close-knit culture, one that the coaching staff describes as a "family away from family," with a positive and uplifting atmosphere that carries over to the court, where the group competes with intensity and determination.
The team is looking forward to opening their home schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 10, against rival Oneonta, a key game for the Hawks this season.
Guards
Seven guards make up the largest position group for Hartwick this season, as Durkin will be counted on to lead the deepest group of Hawks this season.
Durkin's junior season also saw her lead the team in steals per game (3.1) and blocks per game (1.0), as she leads by example for Hartwick, doing it on both ends of the floor for her team.
Paul headlines the returning group of guards after appearing in all 25 games and making 10 starts, averaging 19.3 minutes per game. Also returning are sophomore
Sophia DiCalogero (Melrose, Mass./Melrose), junior
Caleigh Richards (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa), and sophomore
Alexa Voland (Voorheesville, N.Y./Voorheesville), who are looking to expand their roles in 2026-27.
Two freshman guards highlight the newcomers, with the coaching staff excited about the additions of
Ellie Lennon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and
Adley Novack (Gansevoort, N.Y./South Glens Falls).
Forwards
The Hawks boast an experienced group of forwards for the upcoming year, with each player having played collegiately.
Returning to headline the group is Bowens, who gained a lot of experience as a freshman last season, playing in all 25 games and earning 22 starts.
Junior
Olivia Farnham (Millerton, N.Y./Webutuck) and senior
Trinity Thornton (Sherburne, N.Y./Sherburne Earlville) each return after having significant roles as post players last year. Farnham played in 20 games, averaging 14.1 minutes per game while shooting 46% from the floor, while Thornton started 14 games and played in every contest.
Two transfers also join the forward group in 2026-27, with junior
Alexandra Reuss (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida Baker) and sophomore
Molly Russom (Broadalbin, N.Y./Broadalbin Perth). Reuss comes to Hartwick from SUNY Delhi, where she played in 48 games in over two seasons, earning 29 starts and playing 22. 7 minutes per game. Russom comes over from Manhattanville, where she played in 25 games, averaging 11.6 minutes per game. At 5'11", she had the second most blocks on the team and will be an important piece for the Hawks this year.
Centers
Senior
Kylie Guarino (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) is the lone center on the roster and is the tallest player on the team at 6'3". The post player has been a consistent presence throughout her career and will look to be a senior leader with 55 games played over three seasons.
