Yadi Smith (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Mike Gitz (Commack, N.Y.) have been named Hawks of the Week following standout performances, earning the first weekly honors of the year for the key backcourt contributors.
 

Smith wreaked havoc on the hardwood in two conference contests, averaging 16 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists from her guard position. She opened the week with a well-rounded effort against Houghton, finishing with 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Smith followed that performance by erupting for a career-high 21 points in Saturday's win over Alfred, adding seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals while stuffing the stat sheet across both contests.

Smith and the Hawks will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, February 17, heading to Russell Sage at 5:30 p.m.

Gitz continued his strong junior campaign, averaging 15 points across an unbeaten weekend for the Blue and White while reaching a major program milestone. He posted 10 points and a career-best seven rebounds in Friday's win over Houghton, knocking down two three-pointers. Gitz followed with a 20-point outing against Alfred, connecting on five shots from beyond the arc.

His five three-pointers pushed his season total to 80, moving him into fourth place in single-season program history. Gitz also now ranks 10th all-time at Hartwick with 153 career three-pointers made.

Gitz and the Hawks close out the regular season Tuesday night against Russell Sage, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
