HOW IT HAPPENED
Hartwick opened its first home contest of the 2026 season with momentum, scoring the game's first three goals. Matthew Paquette (Newton, Mass.) started the run, converting on a man-up opportunity off a feed from Spencer Hogaboom (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.). Colin August (Garrison, N.Y.) followed with back-to-back goals in under a minute to extend the early lead. Mason Adams (Delmar, N.Y.) and Steve Grossman (Magnolia, Del.) each recorded assists on August's tallies.

Oswego responded with seven unanswered goals to seize control of the game, carrying a four-goal advantage into the second quarter.

August opened the second frame by completing his first hat trick of the 2026 season, finishing off a pass from Paquette. The Lakers answered with three more goals to stretch their lead before Hogaboom sparked the Hawks with a hustle play. Denying an Oswego clear from behind, Hogaboom scooped up the loose ball and converted a one-on-one opportunity in transition.

Hogaboom continued to impact the game, assisting Troy Madden (Williston Park, N.Y.) on his first collegiate goal. August added his fourth goal of the afternoon off a slick transition setup from Ty Crowley (Wallkill, N.Y.). Hogaboom later capped the half with his second goal, this time assisted by August, sending Hartwick into the break trailing by two.

Oswego regained momentum in the second half, scoring four straight goals while holding the Hawks scoreless in the third quarter despite Hartwick generating 10 shots on goal.

August recorded his fifth goal of the contest off an assist from Harry Rubin (Portland, Me.) to cut the deficit, but the Lakers answered to secure the victory. Adams added Hartwick's final goal of the game at the 4:15 mark, his first of the season.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Hawks will prepare to host the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Saturday, February 28th at 12PM.
