ROCHESTER, N.Y. –The Hartwick Track & Field team wrapped up the 2025-26 Empire 8 Indoor Championships at Nazareth University on Sunday, highlighted by a record-breaking weekend from Cody Bazemore and strong finishes across the board.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blue and White opened Day Two with Cody Bazemore (Bel Air, Md.) in the 60-meter final after setting a new school record of 6.88 seconds in the prelims, good for second overall the day before. He followed it up with another impressive sprint in the final, clocking 6.91 to secure the silver medal and key team points.
In the field, Marquis Jones-McKinney (Astoria, N.Y.) added to the Hawks' total in the high jump. Clearing 1.82 meters (5'11½"), he earned a seventh-place finish and two points for Hartwick.
Bazemore returned to the track for the 200 meter event, delivering another standout performance, earning his second silver medal of the championships. His time of 22.28 seconds was just 0.06 shy of gold, shattering his own school record set earlier this season at Houghton.
The championships concluded with the 4x400 relay. On the men's side, Patrick Conteh (Salisbury, Md.), Will Mensah (Cliffwood, N.J.), Erik Higgins (Buffalo, N.Y.), and Bazemore combined for a time of 3:33.69, earning two more points for the Hawks.
The women's quartet of Emilia Murphy (Amsterdam, N.Y.), Keziah Anderson (Rock Island, Ill.), Maiya King (Morris, N.Y.), and Julia Weinschreider (Williamson, N.Y.) crossed the line in 4:52.94 to cap the indoor campaign.
Hartwick closes the indoor season with momentum and multiple podium finishes, led by Bazemore's record-breaking weekend on the track.
