Bazemore, Conteh Lead Hawks at AARTFC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. –The Hartwick Track & Field team sent a select group of student-athletes to represent the Hawks at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships, held at the Armory Track on March 6–7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hartwick began competition on Friday as sophomore standout Cody Bazemore (Bel Air, Md.) represented the Blue and White in the long jump. A consistent threat in the event, Bazemore posted a mark of 6.95 meters (22 feet, 9¾ inches), finishing ninth in a highly competitive field.

Patrick Conteh (Salisbury, Md.) got things rolling on the track with a record-breaking performance in the 60-meter hurdles. Conteh clocked a time of 9.00 seconds, setting a new program record in the event.

Bazemore closed out Day One with a strong showing in the 60-meter preliminaries, posting a time of 6.92 seconds to qualify for Saturday's final and carry momentum into the second day of competition.

Day Two began with the 60-meter final, where Bazemore finished seventh with a time of 7.00 seconds against the region's top sprinters. He later capped off his individual events with another program record in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 22.22 seconds to place 13th and surpass the previous mark he set while earning silver at last week's Empire 8 Championships.

Marquis Jones-Mckinney (Astoria, N.Y.) represented Wick in the high jump before the Hawks wrapped up the meet in the men's 4x200-meter relay. Bazemore and Conteh teamed up with first-year standouts Jaiden Deacon (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Isaiah Sanon (Montebello, N.Y.) to record a time of 1:33.32, closing out Hartwick's indoor season.
