Hartwick responded in the fourth, with back-to-back singles from Samantha Moore (Mamaroneck, NY) and Alicea Seitzinger (Bridgeton, NJ). A passed ball plated their first run, while Seitzinger scored on a groundout to tie the score.

The Wildcats answered immediately in the bottom half with a solo homerun to regain control. They added insurance in the fifth and sixth innings, highlighted by another Poly homerun. Despite putting runners on in the middle innings, Hartwick was unable to generate offensive opportunities down the stretch.

The Wildcats closed the door in the sixth inning with a double, plating another run to bring the score 8-2. Both teams remained hitless through the contest to cap their first game of the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)
In their second game of the day, Hartwick struck first in the third inning, using baserunning to generate offensive opportunities. After reaching on a single, Madi Hoerman (Portage, MI) advanced to third on a steal and wild pitch. Moore delivered the key swing, hitting a two-RBI single to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. SUNY Poly answered with solo homeruns in the third and fourth innings to tie the game 2-2.

Hartwick broke the game open in the fifth, scoring five runs on three hits and two Wildcat errors. Ashlee Stevens (Knox, NY) and Hoerman opened the inning with back-to-back singles, both coming around to score. Shannon Mentz (Binghamton, NY) capped the inning with an RBI single, while the Hawks capitalized on a pair of errors that led to two more runs. A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth brought in Poly for just one run, leaving the Wildcats unable to close the 5-3 gap.

Inside the circle, Alana Villavicencio (Deer Park, NY) delivered a steady performance, limiting Poly to three runs. Villavicencio stranded key baserunners late- including working out of a seventh-inning jam to seal the victory.
