HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)
The Hawks opened the game with an early chance in the top of the first as Madi Hoerman (Portage, MI) singled to left field, but Geneseo worked out of the inning and struck first in the bottom half. A single later scored on an RBI groundout, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead.

Geneseo added to its advantage in the second inning on another RBI groundout. Later in the frame, a passed ball brought in another run, pushing the Knight's lead to 3-0.

Hartwick threatened in the fourth after back-to-back Geneseo errors put Shannon Mentz (Binghamton, NY) and Nadia Pascucci (Troy, NY) on base, but the Hawks were unable to capitalize. In the fifth, Alicea Seitzinger (Bridgeton, NJ) Emily Holladay (Hancocks Bridge, NJ) and Jaidan Beak (Mattawan, MI) helped load the bases with two outs, though Geneseo escaped the jam to preserve the shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)
After falling behind 1-0 in the opening inning, the Hawks responded in the second with one of their best offensive frames of the day. Pascucci started the rally with a single before Mihaly Blake (Troy, NY) followed with a base hit. Casey O'Connor (Albany, NY) then delivered the big swing, lining a two-run single up the middle to score both runners and give Hartwick the 2-1 lead. Ashlee Stevens (Knox, NY) and Emily Holladay helped keep the inning alive with back-to-back bunt plays, but Geneseo escaped further damage with the bases loaded.

The Knights answered quickly in the bottom half, scoring three runs to reclaim the lead at 4-2. The Knights extended the advantage in the third as a solo home run to center and another unearned run crossed home later in the inning to make it 6-2.

Hartwick battled back in the fifth inning, as Jaidan Beak worked a walk before Madi Hoerman and Shannon Mentz added singles to load the bases. Seitzinger came through with a clutch two-run single down the third base line, scoring Beak and Hoerman to cut the deficit to 6-4.

Geneseo answered with four runs in the bottom of the fifth with a triple and a two-run double to push the lead 10-4. The Knights added two more runs in the sixth to end the contest.
