SCRANTON, Pa. – Hawk Volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to the University of Scranton at the John Long Center, falling in straight sets.
The Hawks battled through a competitive opening set, matching Scranton for much of the frame before the Royals pulled away late. Hartwick held a 14-12 advantage midway through the set and later drew even at 16-16, but Scranton closed on a 9-4 run to take the opener 25-20.
Hartwick was unable to carry the momentum into the second as Scranton build an early lead. The Blue and White stayed within striking distance at 7-4, before Scranton extended their advantage to take the set 25-15.
The Hawks again battled in the third, trailing only 8-5 before Scranton created separation. Hartwick continued to compete, cutting the deficit to 13-10 and later 15-12, but the Royals used a late run to secure the 25-17 set win.
Isabella Gracias (Oneonta, N.Y.) paced Hartwick offensively with seven kills, hitting a .400 on the night.
Lucille Walker (Ithaca, N.Y.) added five kills on 12 attempts, hitting a .333, while
Samantha Garback (Tully, N.Y.) recorded two kills, earning a team-high two blocks.
Thylia Keoviengsamay (Rome, N.Y.) directed the offense with 19 assists, while
Malia Dake (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) contributed nine digs. Hartwick finished the match with
