Hawks Put One on the Board in Season Opener

DELHI, N.Y. – Hawks Men's Soccer opened their 2026 season Tuesday evening, falling narrowly to the Broncos in a 2-1 loss at Neil Riddell Field.

Hartwick took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute of the first game of the season, with sophomore forward Wilson Mount (Atlanta, Ga.) finding the back of the net early. Mount's goal came on the Hawks' second shot of the contest, putting the Blue and White in front heading into halftime.

The Hawks continued to hold the lead early in the second half before Delhi leveled the match in the 53rd minute. At 1-1, goalkeeper Nils Ole Peterson (Greiz, Germany) recorded four saves in the second half to keep the Hawks within reach. Throughout the contest, Petersen made six saves on eight shots on goal as Hartwick worked to regain the lead.

The Broncos ultimately took their first lead of the night in the 82nd minute with a late goal, moving ahead 2-1. Hartwick continued to push in the final minutes, with Devin Chandler (Wylie, Texas) registering two shots on goal in the second half. Peterson also stopped another Delhi attempt in the closing minutes, while the Hawks earned 13 corner kicks over the course of the match.

Chandler and Mariano Kool (Amsterdam, Netherlands) each recorded two shots, while Peterson led the Blue and White defensively with six saves. Hartwick finished the night with seven shots, including three on target, in a valiant effort in the season opener.
