BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Hartwick College field hockey team earned a 4-1 Empire 8 victory over SUNY Brockport on Saturday afternoon, improving to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Hawks scored once in the second quarter before adding three more goals in the third to build a four-goal advantage.

Ava Reynolds (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) made one save in the victory, moving to 4-3 on the season.
Hartwick controlled possession throughout the contest, finishing with a 19-4 advantage in shots and a 11-2 edge in shots on goal. The Hawks also earned 17 penalty corners compared to four for Brockport, as they controlled throughout and earned plenty of chances on offense. The physical contest also featured 47 Hartwick fouls and 38 Brockport fouls, with each team receiving one green card.
The Hawks improve to 4-3 on the season and 3-0 in league play with the win, while Brockport falls to 6-2 and 1-1 in conference action. Hartwick returns to paly on Wednesday, Sept. 30, when it hosts Skidmore College at Wright Stadium.
After a scoreless opening quarter, Angioletti opened the scoring with 7:43 remaining in the second quarter, finishing off a penalty corner with an assist from Woolley. Kinkel doubled the advantage just 1:02 into the third quarter, with Angioletti picking up the assist, giving the Hawks a nice cushion.
Hartwick continued to control in the third quarter, and Klotz added another score at the 4:29 mark of the third, again assisted by Angioletti. Krawiec capped the three-goal quarter with 1:36 remaining, with Angioletti picking up her third assist, and putting the game out of reach for Brockport.
Brockport broke through late when Alexis Penree scored with 3:22 remaining in regulation, but Hartwick continued to apply pressure in the closing minutes. The Hawks earned two more penalty corners and put one final shot on goal before the final whistle, earning the conference victory.
The Golden Eagles goalkeepers combined for seven saves, with Lauren Mastromarco making three saves and allowing three goals in over 41 minutes of plauy before Julia Nieboer took over for the final 18-plus minutes and made four saves while allowing one score.
