PLATTSBURGH, NY – Women's Volleyball opened the 2026 season with a 30 sweep against the Potsdam Bears at Plattsburgh's Cardinal Classic Tournament. The Hawks took the three sets 25-15, 25-21, and 25-16 to start 1-0 on the season.
Hartwick finished their match against the Potsdam Bears with 38 kills on 87 attacks, hitting a .241 as a team. The Hawks also recorded eight aces, 33 digs, and three total blocks, statistically dominating Potsdam down the stretch.
Lucille Walker (Ithaca, N.Y.) led the Hawks with nine kills on 15 attacks, while hitting a .467. Freshman outside,
Maya Lesinski (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) added seven of her own, while
Isabella Gracias (Oneonta, N.Y.) and
Makella O'Neill (Webster, N.Y.) each finished with five. In addition to her kills, Gracias recorded two block assists from the right side.
Thylia Keoviengsamay (Rome, N.Y.) ran the offense with 28 assists, adding four kills and four digs from the setting spot. Defensively, libero
Malia Dake (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) led with 14 digs, while O'Neill finished with 3 digs and an ace.
The Hawks controlled the first set from the start, building an 8-5 lead before extending their advantage 19-10. Hartwick closed out the set, 25-15, on a kill from O'Neill. Hartwick brought their momentum into the second set, opening with 4 straight points, holding onto a 14-6 lead midway through the frame. Potsdam cut the deficit to four late in the set, but the Hawks answered with another run to take a 24-20 lead before finishing off the 25-21 win. The Hawks jumped ahead 8-1 in the third, maintaining their advantage throughout the set to win 25-16. The Hawks hit .360 in the final, recording an impressive 13 kills to bring it home.
