Matt Ali begins his third season as an assistant coach with Hartwick football in the fall of 2020. He works with the wide receivers and tight ends.
Ali returned to Hartwick after spending 2017-18 as an assistant coach at Castleton State University. While with the Spartans, he was tasked with leading the outside linebacker corps.
A four-year linebacker and two-year captain for the Hawks, Ali led the team in tackles in both his sophomore and junior seasons. He finished his career with 168 tackles, 20.5 for a loss of 79 yards, eight passes defended, and seven forced fumbles.
Ali is tied for second in the Hartwick record books for forced fumbles. He is also tied for twenty-fifth in tackles.
Ali graduated from ’Wick in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
