Xiomara Ortiz

Xiomara Ortiz begins her third season as the assistant women’s volleyball coach at Hartwick. She arrived at Hartwick following a four-year playing career at Division I Binghamton University.

Ortiz, a libero, played in 116 of the Bearcats’ 117 matches in four seasons and set program records for career digs (1,925) and digs in a season (551).

She was named to the America East All-Rookie Team in 2010 and earned a spot on the AE Conference Second Team the following season.

In her junior season, Ortiz ranked first on the team and third in the America East in digs for the second straight season. She registered at least 20 digs in 12 matches and recorded 30 three times, including a career-high 32 digs in matches against Cornell and Albany.

In her senior campaign, she accumulated another 468 digs, finishing fourth in the conference and setting the all-time record at BU. She also hit the 32-dig mark for the third time in her career against New Hampshire.

Academically, Ortiz earned Binghamton Dean’s List / AD Honor Roll three times. She was also a three-time member of the America East Honor Roll.

This summer, Ortiz directed the Binghamton Volleyball Camp. She has also served as head coach of Whirlwind Volleyball Club and has coached at the Adelphi University Nike Camp.

Ortiz graduated from Binghamton University in May 2014. She earned a degree in Anthropological Perspectives.
