On Saturday in a 12-8 win at Elmira, Hughes scored five times to become Hartwick’s all-time leading goal scorer. His fifth tally of the game gave him 176 goals for his four-year career, one better than former record holder Ian Ritcey’s 175 set in 1995. He is now the Hawks’ most prolific scorer in 49 years of ’Wick men’s lacrosse. Hughes also scored three times on Wednesday in a 10-6 loss to Utica. For the season, he has a conference-best 36 goals and nine assists for 45 points. He also leads the Empire 8 in man-up goals and shots and he ranks sixth in the country in scoring.
