Hawks Roll to 49-25 Win Over Morrisville

ONEONTA, NY — Hartwick football's high-flying offense is alive and well after a 49-25 rout of visiting Morrisville on Saturday night at Wright Stadium in the season opener for both teams. The Hawks gained 458 yards of total offense with 261 in the air and 197 on the ground. Senior running back Tosh DeMulder (Unadilla, NY) rushed for 167 yards and a career-high five touchdowns on the day to lead the Hawks.          The Hawks led 14-12 after one period of play but broke the game open in the second as they outscored the Mustangs 14-0 for a 28-12 lead at the break. 'Wick piled it on in the third quarter opening up a 31-point lead and cruised the rest of the way.
Hartwick, which led the game from start to finish, scored 4:44 into the game on a DeMulder two-yard run and took a 7-0 lead after a Heath Dunn (Mechanicville, NY) extra point. Mustang sophomore quarterback Jamieson Crast (Mannsville, NY), who gained 88 yards rushing and threw for 198 yards and three touchdowns on the day, capped a 12-play, 59-yard, 7-minute drive with under three minutes left in the first, but the extra point was missed leaving the score at 7-6. Radley and Koreman made Morrisville pay on the next play from scrimmage connecting on a game-high 56-yard touchdown play and the lead swelled to eight points.
Crast would break free with under a minute to play for a 39-yard scamper to cut the lead to two, but the Mustangs conversion failed for a 14-12 score at the end of one period of play.
Radley connected again with Koreman for another 36 yards to set up DeMulder from two yards out at the start of the second quarter. After a Mustang punt, DeMulder gained 21 yards on two rushes, Radley hit Koreman for 43 yards, and two plays later DeMulder was in the end zone for the third time of the night with 10 minutes left for a 28-12 Hartwick lead which held up for the rest of the half.
In the third quarter, a Radley-Koreman 35-yard touchdown hookup and two DeMulder TD rushes for 17 and 20 yards blew the game open and gave the Hawks a 49-18 lead. 'Wick then possessed the ball for 10 minutes in the fourth quarter to close out the game. Morrisville's Sean Barrett (Hopewell Jct., NY) scored late in the game on a five-yard run to end the scoring.
Maurice Richardson (Bronx, NY) also ran for 88 yards for the Mustangs. Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) made four catches for 78 yards including a 49-yard reception.
Defensively for the Hawks, Jordan Spirou (Westbury, NY) led all tacklers with nine.
