ONEONTA, NY – Visiting Stevens picked up its 10th Empire 8 win of the season with a 72-32 triumph over Hartwick on Sunday at Lambros Arena. The Ducks, who remain tied for 2nd in the conference standings, improve to 13-8 overall. Hartwick falls to 6-16 overall and 4-10 in the E8 standings.
The Ducks dominated the glass out-rebounding the Hawks 57-33, and they pulled down 31 offense rebounds in the contest. Stevens also netted 21 second-chance points. The Ducks also forced 26 Hartwick turnovers which they turned into 30 points.
Four Stevens players made it into double figures with Jill Barrett and Brittany Fuller each scoring 11 points apiece. Paige Armstrong and Cindy Hassle each scored 10. Barrett added a game-high 13 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass. Armstrong added 10 boards.
Nine Hawks made it into the scoring column but no player scored in double digits. Freshman Jalicia Connell (Westbury, NY/Hicksville) had the team-high with six points in eight minutes. Krystle Crouse (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Stevens would shoot 36.3% on 29-of-80 shots from the floor. The Hawks hit only 25% on making just nine baskets on the day (9-for-36).
The Hawks next travel up the road to Utica on Tuesday night. The Hawks and Pioneers tip-off at 6 p.m.
