ONEONTA, NY- The Hartwick men's basketball team takes the court tomorrow night when its plays SUNY Purchase at the Panther Pavillion in Purchase, NY in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Game time will be at 8 p.m. following the Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Albertus Magnus contest.
Hartwick earned a spot in the 62-team field for the 18th time in program history. It is its third appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last four years after earning the automatic bid when it defeated Nazareth last Saturday for the Empire 8 Championship.
The Hawks are led by Empire 8 Player of the Year 
Jared Suderley (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley). Suderley is having a career season as he leads 'Wick in points (20.4 ppg) and rebounds (10.7 rpg). Empire 8 Rookie of the Year 
Joey Lufkin (Argyle, NY/Argyle) is second on the team in scoring with an average of nearly 16 points per contest. He is sixth in the E8 and leads all freshmen in that category. His 38.7% shooting percentage from beyond the three-point arc is fourth in the Empire 8. Second team selection 
Kyle Bradley (Cornwall, NY/Mansfield University) is third in scoring (14.3 ppg) on the Hawks and boasts a 60% field goal percentage that is tops. He leads Hartwick in assists (87) and steals (42) and ranks eighth and sixth in both categories, respectively, in the Empire 8.
The Panthers (24-2), ranked 15th in the latest top 25 poll, won their second straight Skyline Championship and fourth in the last five years with a 100-82 victory over Mount Saint Mary. They are making their fourth NCAA appearance.
Purchase is led by Skyline Player of the Year Andre Nixon. Nixon leads the Panthers in scoring (18.2 ppg.) and three-point field goals (70), while adding 39 steals and 5.5 rebounds per contest. Second in scoring is Joel Neri. Neri is the conference's sixth leading scorer (16.1 ppg) and second for Purchase. The 7-foot-2 center leads the Skyline in field goal percentage (.586). Neri was named to the league honor roll three times during the season for player of the week.
Hartwick has a history with its opponent. The Hawks and Panthers last played on November 16, 2012 at the Regis Tip-Off Tournament where Purchase won 84-77. 'Wick and Purchase have met once before in the NCAA Tournament back on March 4, 2011. The two teams played on the campus of Cabrini College with the Panthers winning over the Hawks, 79-69.
