DANBURY, CT – Hartwick football's season opening game at Western Connecticut State Saturday has been postponed due to lightning. The game will resume on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Westside Athletic Complex.
           
The game will resume at the point of suspension will the Hawks trailing the Colonials by a margin of 31-20. Hartwick will kickoff to begin the second half of play.
           
The Hawks jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead as they scored on their third play on a John Garcia (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) to Tanner Williams (Eagle Bridge, NY/Hoosick Falls) touchdown pass for 40 yards 1:17 into the game.  
           
The Colonials answered with 24 straight points before the Hawks got 13 of the half's final 20 points to pull to within 11.
           
Garcia has thrown for 13 completions, 212 yards, and three scores. Williams has caught seven passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
