ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick volleyball capped play at the Holiday Inn Tournament on Saturday with a pair of solid showings. The Hawks started the day with a four-set, 25-22, 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, victory over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. They ended competition with a three-set defeat to a strong Coast Guard squad, 22-25, 23-25, 23-25.
Against MCLA,
Rosa Maun (Redstone, CO/Roaring Fork),
Hannah Armstrong (Lansing, NY/Lansing), and
Kayla Baril (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk) combined for 28 kills to pace the Hartwick offense. Maun registered 11 kills, Armstrong contributed nine, and Baril added eight. Armstrong also recorded 11 digs for a double-double.
Baril would contribute eight digs for the Hawks while
Alyssa Zeitler (Chardon, OH/Berkshire) added 11 digs.
Quincy Kinzel (Scotia, NY/Guilderland) accumulated 29 assists.
Against the Coast Guard, Armstrong had a team-best 11 kills to go along with five service aces. She would be named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts. Baril was also in double figures in kills with 10. Kinzel added 24 assists and eight digs.
Rachel Griffing (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) also had eight digs.
Hartwick (7-15) is back in action on Tuesday, October 6 at Morrisville State.
