ROCHESTER, NY – A goal from Julia Delgatti in the 22
nd minute proved to be the difference as the Hartwick Hawks dropped a 1-0 decision to Nazareth College on Sunday in an Empire 8 Conference match.
With the result, 'Wick slips t 6-4-2 overall and 1-2-2 in the Empire 8. The Hawks have three remaining games on their league slate.
Delgatti's goal was her ninth tally of the season. Michaela Soules earned the assist on the play.
The Hawks fired 10 shots o the Nazareth goal.
Sierra Bentley (Worcester, NY/Schenevus) had two shots on frame.
Rachel Weir (New Milford, CT/New Milford) and
Allie Ricci (Millstone, NJ/Saint John Vianney) had the others. Ricci also had the Hawks' final chance in the closing seconds but her shot from 15 yards went up high over the crossbar.
Megan McGillycuddy (Glenville, NY/Scotia-Glenville) made seven saves in goal for the Hawks. Allison Dobles stopped four shots for the Golden Flyers, who finished with a 15-10 advantage in shots.
Hartwick is off for a week until it travels to Hamilton College for a match on October 16 before hosting a pair of critical conference matches against Utca (Oct. 19) and Alfred (Oct. 20).
