KEUKA PARK, NY – Hartwick volleyball split a pair of matches to conclude play at The Keuka Tournament Saturday afternoon inside of the JMW Center. Though the Hawks dropped a 3-1 contest to D'Youville College, 'Wick quickly regrouped sweeping Hilbert College, 3-0, going 2-1 in the team's opening weekend.
Hartwick upended D'Youville in the first set, 25-21 before the Spartans captured the next three sets, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-11.
Kaitlyn Ludder (West Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park) (10 kills),
Jamie Reidy (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) (31 assists) and
Ashley Werner (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) (22 digs) secured double-figures as they led the Hawks in their respective categories. Reidy and Werner's totals were match-highs as well.
Freshman
Maria Sorriento (Troy, NY/Troy) attributed solid numbers to the Hawks' defense which included four blocks to lead Hartwick and five digs. Ludder and
Nicole Wyse (Manchester, CT/South Windsor) put up three blocks apiece.
In Hartwick's sweep of Hilbert (25-16, 25-20, 25-19),
Erin Russell (Wantagh, NY/Seaford) led all with 18 assists and added five kills and six digs.
Paige Bailey (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) led in two categories putting up nine digs and five kills.
Katie Boak (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) registered seven digs and five aces while
Ashley Smatko (Fort Edward, NY/South Glens Falls) and
Andrea Debboli (Troy, NY/Averill Park) each served three aces.
The Hawks' home opener comes in a midweek clash against local rival Oneonta on Wednesday, September 6 at 5 p.m. at Lambros Arena.
