HOBOKEN, NJ – In the regular season rematch of a 2016 Empire 8 Semifinal matchup, No. 17 ranked Stevens exhibited a relentless offensive game owning Hartwick women's soccer in both shots, 25-11 and corners 5-0, evidently coming away with a 2-1 win. As just the first Empire 8 contest for the Hawks, 'Wick stands at 5-3 and 0-1 in conference while the Ducks are 5-1-1 and 2-0 in league action.
Playing 82 minutes in goal,
Cassandra Robataille's (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) 10 saves for 'Wick helped diffuse some of the Ducks' offensive tenacity. The Hawks also cleared a ball off the line.
Rachel Weir (New Milford, CT/New Milford) was responsible for the Hawks' tally on an assist from
Brooke Wojciechowski (West Bridgewater, MA/West Bridgewater). It marked
her fourth goal this season. Weir, with the soft touch, saw her attempt ease its way over the goal line in the 74
th minute to draw the Hawks back to a 2-1 deficit.
Julia Panko's fourth goal of the season and Misha Brewster's first at 25:23 and 73:57, respectively, gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead. Taylor Schaad sent a high pass for Panko's feed while Kaitlyn Casiano served the ball right in the path of Brewster.
Hartwick looks to bounce back in its second match of a three-game league stretch as it welcomes Elmira Wednesday, September 27 at 7 p.m.
