ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick women's swimming and diving team won a 174-104 decision over Alfred on Saturday at Moyer Pool which puts the Hawks' dual meet record to 6-5 on the season. The Hawks won 14 of 16 events on the day.
Maddy Hayes (Eagan, MN/Eagan),
Emma Reining (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt),
Cecelia Mowrey (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown),
Natalie Athans (Victor, NY/Victor), and
Samantha Sterck (Weston, CT/Weston) each won a pair of events for the Hawks.
Hayes picked up a pair of firsts in the 100 free (57.29) and 200 free (2:02.08). Reining earned two first-place finishes in the 100 butterfly (1:02.17) and 200 butterfly (2:18.09). Mowrey won the two long distance events with victories in the 500 free (5:41.47) and 1000 free (11:39.15). Athans won both the 100 breast (1:15.76) and 200 breast (2:41.76) events. Sterck swept the diving competitions picking up wins in the 1-meter (145.40 points) and 3-meter (153.80 points).
Olivia Bart (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) and
Tori Argentieri (East Amherst/Clarence) won the remaining individual events for 'Wick. Bart finished the 50 free with a time of 25.59. Argentieri was tops in the 200 IM in 2:21.93.
'Wick took first in the 200 medley relay with a team consisting of
Ally Schroeder (Plantsville, CT/Southington), Athans, Reining, and Bart in a time of 1:56.56. The team of Bart, Reining,
Abby Schwartz (Olean, NY/Olean), and Hayes combined for a win in the 400 free relay (3:57.58).
The Hawks will next be in action next on Saturday January 27 at home against WPI in their Senior Recognition/Parent Appreciation meet at 12 p.m. in Moyer Pool.
