Recap: Alex Fontana scored the game's only goal at the 28:18 mark of the game and the host Hamilton College Continentals defeated Hartwick's women's soccer team 1-0 Wednesday from Love Field. After receiving a short, headed pass from Sydney Kim with her back to goal, Fontana turned and blasted a low shot to the far corner from near the top of the Hawks' 18-yard box. Hartwick, which was out-shot by the Continentals 22-8 in the contest, registered four shots in each half. Two were from
Rachel Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) and two were from
Alexa DuBois (Hobart, NY/South Kortright), who had a good look with eight minutes gone in the second half. A short cross from the right of Hamilton's goal was played low into the box. DuBois ran onto it and one-timed a shot but it zipped wide of the target.
Rachel Weir (New Milford, CT/New Milford),
Gabrielle Kreppein (Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls),
Shannon Lauko (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), and
Tanner Reed (Unadilla, NY/Unatego Central) each had one shot for 'Wick.
Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) stopped a season-high nine shots in the game.
Up Next: Hartwick returns to Empire 8 Conference play on Saturday when it hosts Houghton College on Elmore Field at 1 p.m.
