Late Goal Lifts Oneonta Past Hartwick

Final Score: Hartwick 0, Oneonta 1

Venue: Oneonta, NY – Red Dragon Field

Records: Hartwick (8-6-1); Oneonta (7-8)

Recap: Kelsie Moinzadeh scored the game's only goal in the 89th minute as host Oneonta defeated Hartwick in women's soccer 1-0 on Wednesday at Red Dragon Field. The goal came off a restart with just 80 seconds left as the Red Dragons escaped with the victory. Courtney Velho (Derry, NH/Pinkerton Academy), Gabrielle Kreppein (Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls), Shannon Lauko (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), and Alexa DuBois (Hobart, NY/South Kortright) each had shots on target in the opening half as the Hawks held a 7-5 edge after 45 minutes. 'Wick would fight off eight first-half corners from the Red Dragons in the first half. Moinzadeh would strike the crossbar in the opening minutes of the second half as the hosts got an early chance. Later the Hawks thought they'd earned a penalty kick following a tackle on Julia Collado (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon) in the box, but the head official waived it off. Shortly after, a cross produced a shot from Jessica Downin that forced a save from Hartwick keeper Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam). Julie Steinhauer followed up with a rebound but she struck the bar for Oneonta and the game remained deadlocked with seven minutes to go. The goal came after Downin played a short ball on a free kick to Lipshie, who sent a far-post ball in towards the Hawks' goal. Moinzadeh was there to head the ball in near the goal line and give the Red Dragons the late win. Oneonta closed the game with a 14-9 edge in shots. Robataille made six stops for Hartwick. Jolene Krom stopped five for Oneonta.
