Utica Spoils ’Wick Senior Day With 2-0 Win

Recap: Utica snapped a six-game winless streak against Hartwick with a 2-0 victory on Elmore Field on Saturday. The Pioneers scored once in each half despite being out-shot by the Hawks by a 13-6 margin. Mikayla Blumenstock opened the scoring for the Pioneers in the 12th minute and they maintained the lead into halftime. The Hawks would hold a 10-4 edge in shots in the opening 45 minutes. Utica got the insurance goal it needed in the 64th minute on a tally from Carly Craft. The Hawks were only able to muster one more shot from Kiley Richardson (Flanders, NJ/Roxbury) with six minutes left but it was saved by Utica's Allison Wagner. Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Hawks. She finished with one save. Gabrielle Kreppein (Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) had four shots for 'Wick while Maggie Rogers (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills) had three. Rachel Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) ended the day with two shots.
 
Notes: Hartwick honored its seniors Richardson, Pine, Madison Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), and Rachel Weir (New Milford, CT/New Milford) in a ceremony prior to the game. The quartet has a record of 41-22-8 over the last four seasons with a pair of Empire 8 playoff appearances and the program's first conference title in 2017. Utica jumps the Hawks in the standings but Hartwick remains in third place with one game remaining.
